Aluminum Wiring Repair
what type of wiring is in your home?
Aluminum wiring was a popular form of wiring used in houses built in the 1960s and early 1970s. Many of the homes built with aluminum wiring remain, and their electrical systems show their age. Aluminum is said to last approximately 30 years before deterioration between connections begins. This deterioration can create a fire hazard.
Certain properties of aluminum cause the metal to deteriorate and lose connection over time. The faulty connections cause overheating to occur, usually after carrying a heavy electrical load, like those that come from using a hair dryer or portable heater. These connections can become hot enough to start a fire without ever causing the circuit breaker to trip.
